The Bimini Glass Co. was formed in 1923 by Fritz Lampl in Vienna, Austria. Fritz Lampl was a poet and writer who turned to designing art glass. In 1938, he and his family had to fled from Vienna when Nazi took over Austria, leaving their home and all the art works behind. He re-established Bimini Ltd. in London and changed the name to Orplid Glass.
